What water heater problems do you repair?
We diagnose and repair the common faults on gas and electric tank water heaters:
- No hot water, or hot water that runs out quickly
- Water that’s too hot or temperature that swings
- Rumbling or popping from sediment in the tank
- Leaking valves and connections
- Failed thermostats, heating elements and pressure relief valves
- Rust-colored or cloudy hot water
Repair or replace?
Our team will assess your system and give you honest recommendations: repair it if that makes sense, replace it if it’s time. A tank that’s corroding from the inside — rusty water on the hot side only, or water weeping from the shell — can’t be repaired, and we’ll say so.
How can I help the visit go faster?
Have this ready when you call:
- What the problem is
- Where the unit is located
- How old it is (the serial number usually encodes the year)
- Whether it’s gas or electric

Is it worth repairing an older water heater?
Often a failed thermostat, element or valve is a straightforward repair. A tank that is leaking from the shell is not repairable. We'll tell you which one you have and give you a written price for either option.
What does a water heater repair visit cost?
The service call is free. A licensed plumber comes out, diagnoses the problem and gives you a written price before any work starts. If you go ahead with the repair, there's an $89 service fee on top of that price; if you don't, you pay nothing.
Do you repair tankless water heaters too?
Yes — see our tankless water heater page for the common faults we fix and the descaling maintenance these units need.
